MVC with entrapment, minor injuries - Woodland Beach Rd @ Big Oak Rd., Smyrna, DE

At 1413 Sta. 44 units along with Amb. 64, KM-6, & T-4 were alerted for a MVC with vehicle reported overturned and with entrapment. E44-2 under command of Capt. Jarman(44-19) responded quickly and on arrival found a single vehicle on its side in a deep ditch. The elderly driver was still stuck inside the vehicle, and unable to exit to do its precarious position. Upon arrival of R-44 the vehicle was stabilized with step cribbing and the Junk Yard Dog stabilizers. The windshield was then removed and the pt was able to placed on a backboard and slid out through the windshield area. The driver was extricated at 1434, and then TOT EMS units for transport to KGH for evaluation by A-64 & KM-6. All 44 units were back in quarters at 1348, and 31 members responded to the alarm.
