Field & Marsh Fire - Flemings Landing Road

At 1359 Sta. 44 units were dispatched to a marsh fire on Flemings Landing Rd. between the bridge and Shorts Landing Rd. E44-4 under command of Lt. Newnam, 44-21, responded within 3 minutes, shortly followed by 44-0 & R44. Upon arrival a section of marsh approximately 100 yards long was found burning. The crew from 44-4 used the booster line, and hand tools to extinguish most of the fire, and on arrival of 44-0 thier crew wet down the rest of the area with a 1 1/2" hose. 44-21 placed the scene under control 1420. While returning from the scene 44-0 found another small marsh fire on Dew Drop Rd and extinguished it before it spread into the woods. All 44 units were back in quarters at 1440. CHC units were in service for 41 minutes, and Lt. Dwayne Newnam was OIC.
