Field Fire w/ Electrical Hazards - Woodland Beach Rd., Smyrna, DE

During the monthly meeting CHC units were dispatched for a reported field fire with electrical hazards. At 2045 E44-4, R44, & 44-10 responded within a minute. On arrival crews found a small 100 x 20 section of field and grass on fire from a downed primary power line. Crews were able to put out most of the fire not around the power lines with hand forestry tools. Crews then waited until arrival of Delmarva power to secure the downed line and extinguished the rest of the fire. Once all the fire was extinguished 44-19 placed the scene under control and all units were back in quarters at 2141.
Capt. Brian Jarrell had command and 80 members responded to assist and were in service for 58 minutes.
