93rd Annual Volunteer Firefighters Convention Parade - Dover, DE

Early Sat. morning at 6am, 50 members met at the station for breakfast before making the annual trip at 6:30am to Dover for the final wipe down of the trucks before they rolled into the Judging area. Just before 8am the last of the cleaning supplies were packed away and the Drivers and Officers made the trip over to Dover H.S where they got judged. During this time the rest of the members moved to Ross Street, where the company would gather for the 1pm parade and waited for the results of the trucks as they arrived back from being judged. At 12pm the rest of the company and band members arrived in Dover, as the morning cleaning crew was starting to get ready. During the hour wait for the start of the parade, the company get lined up in spot as they was going to be marching in, the annual prayer was said and speech from the officers took place. At 1pm the parade got underway with Kent County leading the way this year. CHC was the 5th unit in line and 2nd Marching unit to make the 1.5mile trip down State Street to the Capitol Building where the parade ended. Around 5pm all the results were in, with CHC bring home 10 trophy for Best Appearing Tanker, Ladder, Rescue, Brush Truck, Color Gaud, Miss Fire Prevention Queen. 2nd Best Appearing Antique. 3rd Best Appearing 85'-Present Engine. and the Governors' Cup which marks it as the 33rd time we won Best Appearing Company Overall. The Officers would like to thank the members that help for all their hard work and dedication to make this happen over the past month. Also a special Thank You to the Sudlersville and Chestertown Fire Company for covering our district while we was in Dover for the parade. During that time, they handed a total of 4 calls, 2 MVC, 1 Unattended cooking and 1 Pedestrian stuck.
